UPDATE: the City of Rockford has made this official announcement:

Original Article: I get it. Raking leaves sucks big time, but unless you want to clean up the soggy remnants of them in the Spring after they wrecked your yard over the Winter, you better get to rakin' pronto.

According to rockriverdisposal.com, the last day for yard waste pickup in Rockford, Machesney Park, Loves Park, South Beloit, Rockton and Winnebago County (where it's provided) is Friday, November 30, 2018.

Another thing to remember if you collect a nice pile of sticks while raking, Rock River Disposal will only pick up "branches and limbs less than 4” in diameter bundled with string or twine ... as long as they don’t exceed four feet in length, three feet in diameter and 50 pounds by weight."

If Advanced Disposal is your garbage collection provider, it looks like their last week for yard waste pickup will be the first full week on December, if the weather cooperates until then.

Have fun raking, friends, I currently feel your pain. Literally. Yesterday was our yard raking day and the only one who enjoyed it was our 5-year-old Ella.

She'll learn what's up soon enough.
