It’s Like I’m Going to be a Father Again
In case you didn't know, Lori is very pregnant.
Lori and I work very closely on a daily basis, her desk is 8 feet to my right as I type this.
I have two kids of my own, but it kinda feels like I'm having another. Five days a week I am with Lori for seven or eight hours a day. So the pains, the joys, the concerns, and the questions all come my way.
Not that I truly understand this whole pregnant thing, but I think I have a pretty good idea. There have been tears shed, plenty of smiles, and certain people may get a little moody at times.
So being the "at work husband" I thought it was a good idea to do some research. My boys are 14 and 16 so I needed a refresher course on some stuff.
According to Almost Dad here are 10 Things you need to know about dealing with a pregnant woman:
- She probably has to pee right at this moment - Actually, I think she just headed that direction
- Her mood may change at ANY moment - Indeed
- Morning sickness isn't just a morning thing - Thankfully we have couches and the bathroom is close by
- She looks at me differently now - I'm not the real dad, but yes this is true
- It takes a fraction of the time for her to get upset that it previously did - I supply sweet treats, seems to help
- You will hear the female anatomy discussed with unparalleled candor - We are pretty open anyway
- She will get freaked out - Hourly?
- If you don't sympathize with her, you will drop in her estimation - I'm with you lady!
- Don't expect her to maintain her pre-pregnancy activity levels - Again, couches
- She has to pee again - So true
In case you haven't seen these, Lori has been documenting her pregnancy on YouTube. The actual delivery will not make it onto video, UNLESS it happens at Brews & BBQ.
Keep that chin up Lori, "we" got this.
