Iowa is Boring and I Guess Scary too
I drove clear across Iowa a year ago about this time, wish I knew about this.
Last November I competed in a bodybuilding show in Council Bluffs, Iowa. That was maybe to longest most boring road trip of my life. All the way across Iowa is not a fun drive. Seriously, nothing to look at. Plus I was water and food depleted, good times.
If I would have had this list at my disposal, I could have at least tried to scare the crap out of myself.
According to ONLY you can take a haunted road trip through Iowa, check out these stops.
- Mathias Ham House
- Grand Opera House
- Edinburgh Manor
- Oakland Cemetery Black Angel
- Lover’s Leap Swinging Bridge
- Mason House Inn
- Villisca Ax Murder House
- Squirrel Cage Jail
- Drake University Observatory
- Farrar Schoolhouse
The "Villisca Ax Murder House" is beyond creepy in Villisca, IA before I get to the story, there is a beautiful sign outside of the house that is basically a "welcome people were chopped up here, come take a tour". So here's the story: 1912 the family that lived there and their friends were all killed with an ax as they slept. When you take a tour, you are supposed to be able to feel an evil presence and there are blood stains that magically disappear. I'm so going.
