A woman in Illinois was arrested for stealing a bible to help her become more spiritual.

I've always thought if you are going to jail, it better be for something worthwhile. At this point in my life, I still haven't figure what that would be.

This lady from Illinois thought she had a good excuse to break the law.

According to pjstar.com,

"Woman tries to steal Bible to be more Christian." 

"She told Peoria police she tried to steal a Bible to improve her spiritual walk."

She was caught at a Walmart.

Besides the Bible, there were other items found in her backpack including a shirt, leggings, pencils, bookmarks and a quart of oil. That is certainly an interesting variety.

She did have things in her cart which she paid for but not the stuff in her bag. The woman was stopped before leaving the store.

When the police questioned her at the store, "she suggested that a stolen Bible could have helped her spiritually."

Maybe, they need to let her bring the Bible home to read. Sounds like she may need to go over the section about not stealing.
