Yesterday, as I was taking some time to relax in the air conditioning after spending a considerable amount of time outside, I sat and looked at my dogs as they gathered on my lap. I know the look in their eyes, I can tell when they're bored and feel cooped up in the house; it makes me feel so guilty. You know that look.

You want to let them play outside and you want to take them for a walk, but it's just too hot. And that's not you being a lazy pet owner, that's you being a smart pet owner. Taking your dog for a long walk or leaving them in a hot car for even 5 or 10 minutes can cause them serious harm and could come with some serious consequences.

WREX spoke with the Cherryvale Animal Clinic and vets say that once it gets to reach the upper 70s and hotter, your pets are more likely to suffer from heat stroke.
