For the 18th year, the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train is set to trek across two countries.

Better yet, for the first time in two years, the Holiday Train will make a stop just outside of Rockford.

The Holiday Train will be in Byron on Tower Road near the high school on December 2. Arrival time set at 12:45 p.m. while the event will run from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. Special musical guests include Kelly Prescott and Colin James.

Besides the musical guests, the train is essentially Christmas on rails, complete with wreaths and lights.

The train will also makes stops in Savanna and Gurnee that same day. There are also a few stops scheduled in Wisconsin at various locations throughout the state starting December 5 through December 7.

Besides being the perfect thing to get you into the holiday spirit there's a humanitarian reason for the train's cross country voyage.

CP's train of lights provides a platform to speak about the needs of North American food banks. This is why we are challenging all our event attendees to reach into their cupboards and donate quality nutritious food items to help raise food for those who need it most this holiday season."

On December 2, when the Holiday Train comes rolling through the Rockford area, grab a canned good or two and get into the spirit. We'll see you there!
