There is big talk about what we can expect this weekend with snowfall, dangerously low temperatures and freezing rain.

But with all the hype, what can we honestly expect.

Here in the Midwest, we are always prepared to deal with the worst possible scenario. If you aren't, like me, than I will see you at the grocery store when I get off of work today. The last thing I need is to be stuck in the house with no food!

According to the National Weather Service, here is what we can expect to see this weekend in the Rockford area: (As of 9:53 a.m. on December 16, 2016.)

There is a Winter Weather Advisory starting at Noon on December 16th until 6 a.m. on December 18th.

Today:

Snow, mainly after noon. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 20. South southeast wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
Tonight:
Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Temperature rising to around 23 by 2am. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north northeast after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Saturday:
Snow, mainly after noon. Patchy blowing snow after noon. Temperature falling to around 19 by 5pm. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
Saturday Night:
Snow before midnight. Widespread blowing snow. Low around -9. Wind chill values as low as -24. Blustery, with a northwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
Sunday:
Patchy blowing snow before noon. Sunny and cold, with a high near -6. West northwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
Sunday Night:
Mostly clear, with a low around -15.

One this is for certain, it's going to be gross.
