Early Saturday morning Winnebago County Sheriff Deputy Stephen Wright was making what he thought was a routine traffic stop. Little did he know it would turn into a nightmare. A suspect in the vehicle, Jordan Spates, opened fire on Deputy Wright, striking him in him multiple times in the back in shoulder and back, according to Beloit Daily News.

It will undoubtedly be a long road recovery for Deputy Wright, who has been on the force for 18 months. Stephen Wright has already undergone lifesaving surgery but more are expected during the length of his recovery, according to MyStateline.com. Along with the long recovery process comes a lot of medical expenses, which is why a GoFundMe campaign has been set up in the Deputy's name to help offset financial burden and other expenses.

The campaign goal is $10,000 and is almost half-way reached. Small donations by many of us will quickly see the goal be reached and possibly surpassed.

This account was set up to gift our friend with some help in these very serious and troubling times. There are going to be many expenses ahead, and this would allow even the smallest bit of help to him and his fiance. To everyone who has been supporting and helping them in this time of need, thank you so much.
