On Tuesday a crew with IM Crushing, LLC were doing some work about a quarter-mile east of Houbolt Road in Joliet, when they made quite the discovery. The crew had found a grenade and called the Joliet Police Department. Thankfully the site where the grenade was found was isolated from the general public, being accessible only by all-terrain vehicles. The Cook County Bomb Squad was eventually called onto the scene.

The grenade was found with it's pin still intact and was taken by the bomb squad to be properly disposed of. Joliet Police were later told that the grenade was from World War II and it's explosives had already been removed. Everyone involved is stumped as to how the grenade ended up in Joliet.
