When you think of a place like Six Flags Great America, you think of good old fashion family fun; and while the theme park's "Fright Fest" is meant to be all sorts of scary fun, it should never turn into something so scary that you never want to attend.

What should've been a fun night for a family of three turned into a night in the hospital after they were attacked by a group of nine people during Fright Fest on Saturday night.

According to WGN, the altercation started after the larger group cut in line and were using foul language; the family confronted them about their behavior, which triggered the attack of their 12-year-old son.  When the father tried to pull the attacker off of his son, he was knocked to the ground and beat by other members of the group.

When the mom tried to jump in and help, she was also attacked.

All three were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Six Flags issued an statement regarding that attack saying,

"The safety of our guests and team members is our top priority and we have zero tolerance for reckless behavior. The perpetrators were taken into custody by local authorities…. This was an isolated incident and Gurnee police along with our own security personnel responded promptly.”

After security camera footage from the park was found to be "inconclusive," Gurnee police are now asking for any witnesses to come forward with any information that might be useful, including videos.
