I grew up in Freeport, so any sort of "happy news" from Pretzel City will always be celebrated.

According to WIFR families that need some financial help when to comes to their kids education, will get some much needed help.

For starters, the school registration fees are gone. Usually families are required to fork over $120 plus just for school enrollment.

Secondly, a free meal for the student. Around 80% in the Freeport School District come from low income homes. Making sure the kids get a good, nutritious meal is important for a day of learning.

Kudos to everyone of the District 145 board for approving this, and making these changes.
