Here are five things you don't actually have to buy organic.

Organic this, organic that. What does it all mean anyways?

According to geniuses at Thrillist, the entire organic 'concept' is completely full of misinformation, terrible branding and over pricing.

While yes, eating organic is a way of lifestyle for many, some things that are organic are just bogus.

Alright, so you've chosen to eat organic because it's better for the planet, it's supposedly healthier or whatever the reason may be. That's great, just don't fall for the marketing gimmicks that are out there.

USDA organic products by definition must be free from synthetic ingredients and are grown on farms that strive to protect the environment.

If you want to eat organically, but save some of your hard earned money, there are ten different things according to Thrillist that you NEVER need to buy organic. Here are my favorite five:

1. Avocados

Avocados are actually one of the cleanest pieces of fruit you can buy. Only 1 percent of avocado samples showed any trace of pesticides in a study done by the Environmental Working Group.

2. Whole Foods' "365 Organic"-brand anything

Before you start screaming bloody murder... Thrillist explain. I already know this is going to get all sorts of panties in bunches...

"even though the brand has “organic” in the name, it's not actually organic. Whole Foods claims that its 365 store brand is “sourced to avoid GMOs,” but notice the wording does not say “GMO free.” In fact, a study done by Cornucopia found that 365 Organic cornflakes were made with over 50% genetically modified corn. And take special note that these do not say "USDA certified organic" anywhere."

3. Seafood

It is absolutely impossible to regulate the diet of a wild fish. They can't be labeled truly organic.

Pen-raised fish on the other hand are closer to being labeled 'organic' but so far, only international organizations have established organic standards for certain products. The USDA is just now trying to figure out what makes seafood 'organic.'

4. Sweet Corn

Corn is sprayed with large amounts of pesticides, but the husks protect the corn underneath. USDA tests have shown that 99 percent of sweet corn samples have zero pesticide residue at all.

5. Asparagus

My mom and I may be the only people on the planet who love asparagus. Even bugs don't like asparagus, so there are fewer if any pesticides used on them.
