Does Rockford Need It’s Own Flag?

Does the city of Rockford need it's own flag?

With the weather getting better, I enjoy taking walks in my neighborhood.

I have noticed a lot more flags flying on my block this year. Of course, there are several American Flags. There are other flags too, like the Cubs "W," Blackhawks, Bears, State of Illinois, different branches of the United States Armed Services, and even a Seattle Seahawks.

With Memorial Day Weekend coming up, my parents asked me to come by and help them put their flags up.

I read a great article today on rockfordproud.com asking the question,

"Should Rockford have its own flag?"

I'll be honest. I used to think things like that were a waste of time and money, but I've changed my attitude.

I think that's a great idea. I think it would create more pride in our community.

I see a lot of people around town sporting their "815" shirts. It shows support for our city.

I realize Rockford has problems. Crime is a big issue. Let's not focus on that for a second.

There are many good things happening here too. Just head downtown on a Friday night in the summer. It's a happening place to be.

It would be cool to see Rockford city flags flying all around. Maybe, people wearing Rockford flag t-shirts. Showing community pride.

They do it in Chicago, so why not here?
