Dick Butkus Statue Will Play Better Defense Than Fighting Illini

The University of Illinois will honor Dick Butkus with a statue, and it will record 12 tackles.

According to CBS Sports, in 2019 Illinois will memorialize legend Dick Butkus with statue near its stadium. Dick Butkus played at the University Illinois from 1962-64, and was a three time All-American. He went on to become one of the most feared defensive players in NFL history with the Chicago Bears, and is a member of the NFL Hall of Fame.

Will this statue help the U of I defense, possibly inspire them? Can the University of Illinois use this statue as a recruiting tool? Will Lovey Smith talk slowly to the statue? Only time will tell.
