Counseling Offered After Death of NIU Student

Northern Illinois University in DeKalb will be offering support and counselling to support the community, staff and students after the tragic news of a student passing away due to an 11th story fall.

A student removed a window screen on the 11th floor of the Stevenson Towers residence hall and fell out the window. The student was transported from the scene to Kishwaukee Hospital. The student passed away a short time later.

WTVO reports that NIU's Counseling and Consultation staff is meeting with students, staff and any members of the university family who may need their services.

Counseling and Consultation Services is located in the Campus Life Building 200. The office can be reached by phone at 815-753-1206 and is open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
