Would Your Family Ever Consider Not Doing Christmas Presents?

I love the holidays but it can really be a lot of work. Especially, when it goes to gift giving. It can take a lot of time and money. Even for someone like me, who has a pretty small family.

My wife and I decided to change things up a few years ago and it has worked out great.

First, it's all about the kids. The serious presents are for them. So, we make sure they are taken care of.

Then, we get something for our parents.

There's a couple of people we get a small gift and it's always a joke.

Beyond that, we've really stopped exchanging. The funny thing is everyone else was all about it too. The holiday pressure goes away and we just enjoy spending time together.

I've told people about our new style Christmas and they think we're crazy.

Believe it or not, we aren't alone.

According to abc11.com,

"It seems there's an emerging trend where people want to end the holiday tradition of giving and receiving presents. A study by SunTrust, almost 7 out of 10 people are in favor of skipping the gifts if their friends and family agree to it."

"Instead, most people surveyed say they would rather give and receive the gift of time. In other words, gatherings and parties over presents. Many say the move would spare them some financial stress while making the holidays more meaningful."

Would you ever consider trying it?
