This Saturday, you can celebrate Groundhog Day where the movie was filmed in Woodstock, Illinois.

For some strange reason, I've always wanted to go to the big Groundhog Day party in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to see Phil's prediction. Unfortunately, I could never work out a trip there.

I just found out, I don't have to go that far and I'm excited. It's just a short drive from Rockford to Woodstock, Illinois. The cool thing about that is part of the movie starring Bill Murray was filmed there.

From woodstockgroundhog.org,

"Our Committee’s goal has always been to offer the community events that would be family-oriented, get people out during a time of year that most would rather not and to commemorate the filming of the movie, and bring people to Woodstock whether for the first time or again and again each year. We keep it light-hearted and fun, after all, we are talking about a groundhog!"

They have many activities scheduled including an actual groundhog prediction and a screening of the movie. It's a fun event for the whole family.
