Families in the fatal Belvidere apartment fire are mourning loss and starting life over with nothing. Here's how we can help our neighboring community.

The Belvidere community has already begun helping the families affected by the fire that took the life of Melissa Darling and left many homeless. And there's still plenty more needed.

Boone County Fire Protection in Belvidere collected necessities Sunday afternoon to bringing normalcy to families that lost everything, but the need doesn't end that easily.

Here are some ideas what will is needed to help these families;

  • Gift cards for groceries or restaurants
  • Toiletries
  • Diapers
  • Household Items (Plates, alarm clocks, utensils, lamps, etc.)
  • Gas cards

Clothing items are no longer needed at this time.

Donations can be dropped off at Boone Country Fire Protection or at Townsquare Media 8 AM-5 PM until Tuesday at 5PM.
