This is an event I took part in a couple years ago, and absolutely loved it.

I've never been a big CrossFit person, but I was asked to participate two years ago in an event for Breast Cancer Awareness.

My friend Kory Spear asked me to take part in "Barbells for Boobs", and I had a blast. The CrossFit workout was the "Grace" workout which is 135lbs, floor to shoulders, overhead, and back down to floor for one rep. You need to get 30 reps and it's timed.

My personal goal was 4 minutes, simply because I had no idea what I was doing. Getting up around 20+ reps I was eyeing the clock and thought, I can finish under 3 minutes! I ended up 3:01 which was totally fine with me.

After my lungs stopped burning, I ate a burrito and life was back to normal.

This years Barbells for Boobs will take place on October 24th at CrossFit Supercell in Rockford, 4831 Colt Rd in Rockford. Join CrossFit Supercell for a free community workout at 9am and help them raise awareness of Barbells for Boobs. Barbells for Boobs is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the early detection of breast cancer, with an emphasis on women under the age of 40 and men.
