HellsGate Haunted House has been named one of the scariest haunted houses in the country. It's also the scariest in Illinois according to haunted house magazine 'HauntWorld'. I know what you're thinking, there are so many haunted houses nowadays, how is this one any different? Well, this isn't just a 5-minute haunted house experience. This is an entire production that starts with taking a shuttle to the haunted mansion located in the middle of a spooky forest, to their new addition of 'dragon caves underneath the house', this place is obviously above average.

It's a bit of a road trip from Rockford, but it's 100% worth it. 'HellsGate Haunted House' is located in Lockport, IL, and is only 2 hours from Rockford. According to Patch -

Personally, I think one of the coolest parts is that you park your car and then board a shuttle bus that takes you to the middle of the woods where the house is. A quote on the website even says,
